Fall garden planning

The Spring/Summer garden is variously harvested, failed, fruiting and flowering, so I’m planning the Fall garden. Kale is planted which will hopefully last the winter. Maybe the chard will last too. We’ll see.

Tomatoes, ground cherries and peppers are flowering and fruiting away, with nothing really ripe yet. Eggplants are looking good and flowering. No fruit visible yet. Garlic and potatoes both grew fine, and I’ve been digging them up as needed.

Beans pretty much didn’t germinate or were eaten by bugs/slugs before they got a chance. Next year, beans, next year. I’m going to try growing Fava beans in Fall. They’re supposed to be really hardy. There are a few spindly cucumber plants still hanging onto life, and making silly little fruits. I don’t think any of the vines are longer than a foot.
